Cholesterol have a role to play, but one-half of the people who have a heart attack have normal cholesterol levels. We now recognize the importance of genetics, lifestyle, environmental and nutritional factors in causing blocked arteries, and are able to look beyond our traditional understanding of cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugars with modern diagnostics.
