We are what we digest and absorb

Effective digestion and absorption are important for optimal health. This workshop explores how suboptimal digestion and absorption might contribute to chronic gut symptoms, nutrient deficiencies, as well as health effects beyond the gut, and how to optimise health and wellness with functional strategies.

  • Digest. We will discuss the role of digestion as gatekeeper and upstream modulator, and traditional functional approaches to improve digestion and gut health.
  • Absorb. We will discuss reasons why a well-balanced diet might not provide us with all necessary nutrients, how food choice and medications can affect absorption, and how to boost nutrient absorption.
  • Disease Focus. We will discuss the condition of SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth) as a cause of chronic gut symptoms, its relation to food, digestion and absorption as well as functional nutritional solutions.
  • Demo & Tasting. We will demonstrate how to prepare digestive bitters and carminatives tinctures, simple ways to incorporate digestive support in our diet, and gut health friendly party snacks, cocktails and mocktails for the festive season.
